Data Collection Methodology

Epsilon Online data is a compiled data base derived from dozens of qualified sources. The data originates from four major groups of source. While specific sources are proprietary and confidential, we’ve listed some below as examples:

  1. Public Records: e.g. directory assistance phone databases, county assessor records and property deeds, hunting and fishing licenses, and voter files,
  2. Surveys: ShoppersVoice (North America’s largest consumer survey), custom surveys (Epsilon fields these on an ongoing or occasional cadence to get data points that aren’t on TargetSource),
  3. Aggregator partners: magazine subscriptions, product registration data, non-Epsilon O&O self-reported data,
  4. Transactional data: mail order responders, retailers with direct visibility into purchase transactions, major non-co-op transactional aggregators.

After the data is aggregated, it goes through several layers of hygiene and validation to ensure accuracy and recency. The database is regularly evaluated against truth sets, as well as periodically audited by third party auditors and measurement partners.
